Biography

John Boyd was born on August 7, 1796 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Abraham Boyd and Nancy Lynn. John's brother, Linn Boyd, was Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1851 to 1855[1]

John Boyd moved to Texas in 1835. He was a member of the first session of the Texas Congress. In May of 1838 he represented Sabine County in the House of the First and Second congresses of the Republic of Texas. [2]


Philanthropy
Donated 1,100 acres and a cash donation for the founding of Trinity University at Tehuacana. [3]

Death: May 4, 1873 in Limestone County, Texas, USA[1]
