Biography

Samuel Boyd Sr. was born about 1778 in Ireland.[1][2] He immigrated with his parents to the United States from Ireland aboard the Lady Washington, arriving in 1804 in Charleston, South Carolina.[3]

He married Margaret[1] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Sarah Boyd was born about 1836 in Illinois.[1]
  2. William B. Boyd was born about 1838 in Illinois.[1]
  3. Rachel Boyd was born about 1840 in Illinois.[1]
  4. John S. Boyd was born about 1842 in Illinois.[1]
  5. Margaret Boyd was born about 1847 in Illinois.[1]
  6. Jane Boyd was born about 1850 in Illinois.[1]

He appears on the 1840 census in Randolph County, Illinois with the following household members:
