Birth & Baptism
Robert was born about 1819 in Ireland,
[1]
probably in Killala, Mayo.
[2]
The only baptismal record found so far--as well for the baptisms of three brothers born in Ireland who also immigrated to the U.S., all lining up with their names and roughly their ages--are in the Church of Ireland. They, however, were Catholics, at least in the United States.(*See Research Notes) According to this record, he was baptized on March 5, 1819.

Marriage & Family
Robert Boyd married Anna Harvey in the United States, probably before the birth of their first son John (b. 1853).
Immigration, Ethnicity, and Religion
Robert was naturalized on December 21, 1846 in Jefferson County, New York. The witnesses were Patrick L. Stewart and Nelson Rulison.
[4]
This is the same date and witnesses on his brothers Patrick and William's naturalization records. Robert's states an immigration year of 1837, but his brother William stated 1840, and Patrick stated June 20, 1840. They might not have immigrated together, but if they did, it seems Patrick's date would be the most accurate.

Wondering if maybe Robert Sr, his father, was of the Church of Ireland and that's why they were baptized in that faith. Their parents' marriage record was also in the Church of Ireland.
