Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Boyd was a daughter of Woodward A. Boyd and Elizabeth Fisher. She was born in Cecil County, Maryland in 1853. She moved with her parents and siblings to Berkeley County, West Virginia, then on to Frederick County, Virginia. She never married. She passed away of "asthmatic troubles" on 17 December 1913 in Kernstown, Virginia and was buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.[1]
Miss Mary Elizabeth Boyd, member of an old Frederick county family, died at 9:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her nephew, Mr. Hinkley Boyd, who lives on the Edward Lupton farm at Kernstown after an illness due to asthmatic troubles, aged 60 years.
Miss Boyd was a sister of Messrs. Robert Boyd, of near Winchester; Levi Boyd, of Nain; Charles Boyd of Red Bud; Henry Boyd, of North Mountain, W. Va; William Boyd, of Martinsburg, W. Va.; Mrs. H. (S) F. Kerns, of Winchester, and Mrs. Carson Yeakley, formerly of this city, but now of Martinsburg.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Hinkel Boyd at 1:30 o'clock on Friday afternoon by Rev. George W. Stover, pastor of the United Brethren Church of Winchester, and interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, this city.[12]
