Biography

George Boyd born about 1722 in County Antrim, Ireland was the son of John Boyd and Jane Bell. A Quaker family, the John Boyds of Ballymoney, County Antrim, Ireland came to America in 1736. They settled in the same area as George Boyd (Episcopalian) and Adam Boyd (Presbyterian). They later moved to York County, Pennsylvania. There is no evidence that these families of different religious beliefs were related, although they all came from County Antrim, Ireland. Page 16, The Boyds of Boyds Tank.

They became members of Sadsbury Meeting. At Warrington Monthly Meeting, York County, Pennsylvania 9 November 1765, a certificate dated 21 August 1765, from Sadsbury Monthly Meeting was received for John Boyd and wife.
