Mossom Boyd was the founder of an Ontario-based lumber industry centered on the Trent River watershed. He built grist and sawmills at Bobcaygeon in the 1850s and signed a lucrative deal in 1869 to cut lumber on Canadian Land and Emigration Company lands in the Haliburton region. He eventually had residences in both Bobcaygeon and Toronto.[1][2]
