Biography

Thomas Boyden was born in 1639. He is the son of Thomas and Frances Boyden. He passed away in 1719.[1]

From Thomas Boyden and His Descendants Pg. 8 :

2. Thomas (2), on of Thomas (1) and Frances Boyden, was b. Sept. 26, 1639, in Watertown; d. Nov. 15, 1719, in Groton; m. Martha, eldest dau. of Richard and Martha Holden, b. Jan. 15, 1646, d. Mar. 18, 1687, in Charlestown. Her father was a fellow-passenger with the senior Thomas Boyden, in the ship Francis, and d. Groton Mar. 1, 1691, "aged, infirm and a widower." Children:

i. Martha (3), b. July 14, 1667, in Watertown; m. Dec. 27, 1688, Timpthy Reed of Woburn.
ii. Elizabeth (3), b.May 24, 1670; joined the Second Church of Boston 1693.
iii. 4. John (3), b. Dec. 6, 1672, in Groton.
iv. 5. Jonathan (3), b. Sept. 27, 1675.
v. 6. Joseph (3), b. Apr. 24, 1678.
vi. Benjamin (3), b. Mar. 29, 1683, recorded as "Benjamin Bowden, b. in Charlestown, son of Thomas & Martha; others previous, but not in town." Nothing further known of him.
The births of the first five children were obtained from the Woburn town records, against which the following entry also appears: - "These five children of Thomas and Martha Boyden were entered here, by their mother;s request, because of their moving to and fro in the Indian War, Some of them were never recorded anywhere else, and the rest of the records were lost." The birth of the last child, Benjamin, is taken from the Charlesown records, and it is probable that he died young. In the Registry of Deeds, Middlesex Co., the following records appear: - "Jan 12, 1714/15, Thomas Boyden of Groton, to son John Boyden, now residing in Dedhm, Co. of Suffilk, parcel of land in Groton." "May 29, 1714, Thomas Boyden of Groton, a parcel of land to Jonathan Boyden of same town."
