Biography

Ephraim Bradford was born in 1685 at Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was the son of William Bradford (Jr.) and his third wife Mary wood Holmes Bradford. (THIS IS CORRECT -HOWEVER, WOOD-562 WAS MERGED WITH MARY HOLLAND, WIFE OF WRESTLING BREWSTER. THE CORRECT MOTHER NOW FOR HIM IS Mary Wood

He was a grandson of Mayflower Pligrim and Govenor William Bradford.

His wife was Elizabeth Brewster. They were married on February 13, 1710. They had fourteen children[1]. She is apparently a descendant of Pilgrim William Brewster.

Ephraim Bradford died testate between 20 February, 1743/4 and 6 Oct 1746.[2] At the time he made his will he was a Yeoman and was living in Kingston, Massachusetts. His wife predeceased him. She passed away December 5, 1741 in her fifty-first year.[3]

Ephraim Bradford was born 1689. He married Elizabeth Brewster.[4]

Ephraim died in 1746.

Probate

His will is dated 16 December 1741 and proved on 6 October 1746 in Plymouth. He mentions no names but had three sons (all under 21 years of age), and daughters, and his friend, Joseph Holmes.[5]

3 Feb 1747, Wrestling Brewster was appointed guardian to Waite Bradford, [6] and Simeon and Ezekiel chose Wrestling Brewster to be their guardian on the same day.[7] All three were minor sons of Ephraim Brewster, deceased.

His inventory was taken on 20 February 1746/47 in Kingston.[8]

In 1753, an account of his estate was presented by the executor, James Holmes, and recorded. It included debts, the loss of cows that drowned and died of sickness, and "sundreys" valued at £20.8.2 each to his daughters: Ruth Chandler wife of Nathan Chandler, Anna wife of Ebenezer Chandler, Abigail wife of Peleg Holmes, Elizabeth Bradford and Lucy Bradford.[9]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ephraim by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ephraim:

I was wondering if someone could take a look at a possible daughter of Ephraim, Mary Bradford (Bradford-9817). She did not marry. I attached her to Elizabeth Brewster though, so she can be found there. She doesn't seem to fit in with any other Bradford parents. Unfortunately, the probate of Ephraim is no help, as he doesn't mention his children's names in his will. I would love to have a second opinion. Thanks!

I don't believe she is the daughter of Ephraim and Elizabeth. I'm doing some further research and will post my thoughts on her profile, when I finish.

I changed my mind, I think there is a good possibility that Mary is the daughter of Ephraim, who supposedly died young. I think the probate distribution probably has an error. See comments on Mary's profile

Thanks for looking at this and connecting her to her father. Ephraim's original probate records are not in his file and say see records. All the family that is mentioned in Mary's probate files seem to connect her to Ephraim at least in my eyes. I get the impression that she may have been eccentric, hence the family trying to make the court declare her non compos mentis. I cheered her when she fought back. Thanks again for taking the time to look at this for me!
