Edward Rudolph Bradley Jr., an award winning journalist, was best known for his 26 years on the CBS news program, 60 Minutes, where he reported more than 500 stories. Bradley was the first African American reporter to cover the White House, and in 1987 he became the first Black White House television correspondent.
Bradley was chosen to fill the vacancy at 60 Minutes when Walter Cronkite retired and Dan Rather moved from 60 Minutes to the CBS Evening News anchor chair. He won numerous awards, including the Peabody Award, Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and 19 Emmy awards. Early in his career, Ed covered the Paris Peace Talks on the Vietnam War, the fall of Saigon and Jimmy Carter's 1976 Presidential campaign. A jazz enthusiast, he was host of NPR's "Jazz at Lincoln Center" for a decade. He also performed onstage from time to time with the Neville Brothers and with Jimmy Buffett.[1]
A son of Edward Bradley Sr and Gladys Gaston, he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 22 June 1941.[2] His parents divorced when he was 2, and he was raised by his mother, Gladys.
His first marriage was to Diane Jefferson in Philadelphia in 1964.[3][4]
He later married musician Priscilla Coolidge Jones, sister of rock singer Rita Coolidge, in London in 1981.[5]
His last marriage was to Patricia Blanchet, who became his widow, around 2004 in his home in Aspen, Colorado.[4][6]
He had no children.
He died at age 65 in New York City, on 9 November 2006;[2][4] his burial location is unknown.[7]
The state of Pennsylvania erected a historical marker honoring Ed's life in Philadelphia's West Fairmount Park in 2021.[8]

We plan on featuring Ed alongside Larry King, the Example Profile of the Week in the Connection Finder on January 27th. Between now and then is a good time to take a look at the sources and biography to see if there are updates and improvements that need made, especially those that will bring it up to WikiTree Style Guide standards. We know it's short notice, so don't fret too much. Just do what you can. A Team member will check on the profile Tuesday and make changes as necessary.
Thanks! Abby
