Mercy was born on June 2, 1689 in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and was the the third of six known children born to John Bradstreet and Sarah Perkins. She was three years old in 1692 when her father was accused of being a witch just as the Salem Witch Trials began to wind down. He fled the area briefly but was soon exonerated (read more at Bradstreet-13).
Mercy married John Hazen about 1710 when she was 20-21 years old, likely in Topsfield. Together they had nine children, born between 1711 (when she was 20) and 1724 (when she was 35). After their first son John was born in Topsfield, John and Mercy moved to Norwich, New London, Connecticut where more land was available for settlement.
Children (with husband John Hazen):
John Hazen Jr. b: 21 Feb 1710/1711 in Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts,
Samuel Hazen b: 1 May 1713 in Norwich, Connecticut : 6 Nov 1715 in Norwich, Connecticut
Simon Hazen b: 4 Jun 1715 in Norwich, Connecticut : 6 Nov 1715 in Norwich, Connecticut
Margaret Hazen b: 16 Jul 1717 in Norwich, Connecticut
Joshua Hazen : 28 Jun 1719 in Norwich, Connecticut
Caleb Hazen b: 4 Apr 1720 in Norwich, Connecticut : 8 May 1720 in Norwich, Connecticut
Sarah Hazen b: 6 Jul 1722 in Norwich, Connecticut
Daniel Hazen b: 1 Jun 1724 in Norwich, Connecticut: 26 Jul 1724 in Norwich, Connecticut
Mercy died on November 22, 1725 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut at age 36. Her mother Sarah (Perkins) Bradstreet outlived her and is believed to have raised Mercy's daughter Margaret who was 8 years old when her mother died. See reference and link to Sarah's will made in 1740 and proven in 1745 in her profile Sarah Perkins.
Note for further research: Thomas b. 1722 or earlier looks like a mistaken birthdate for the Thomas Hazen who was born to John Hazen and his second wife Elizbeth Dart. That Thomas was born on 12 Feb 1733. Also, verify if the second dates listed in above children's records represent baptismal dates, or early deaths.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mercy by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mercy:
First entry for son John Bradstreet is undocumented ; has wrong year for birthdate and misspelled name of only child listed for that John. Correct birthdate for first child is given in source for Bradstreet-12 and is clearly 21 Feb 1711 (new style) as noted: John* Hazen Jr. b: 21 Feb 1710/1711 in Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts.

I believe that Mercy is the 7th great grandmother of my deceased sister-in-law, Scharleen (LIVINGSTON) SISSON.
