Biography

Annie Bradstreet was born on November 17, 1665, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Samuel Bradstreet and Mercy Tyng.[1][2] Her birth name was recorded as Annis (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-XKGQ-SLM?i=24&cc=2061550). She died on June 20, 1669.[2]

Annis (Annice) Bradstreet was baptized on November 17, 1665, and born in Boston just a few days before that. She was the fourth of five known children born to Samuel Bradstreet and Mercy Tyng.[3]

Annis' mother Mercy died at age 28 in 1670, shortly after Annis' younger brother died at one month old in November 1669.

Annis died June 20, 1669, at age 3 yrs and 7 months.

Bradstreet-286 and Bradstreet-95 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. Index of Boston births has her name as Annie in source on Bradstreet-95. Bradstreet Genealogy in the Essex Antiquarian (source again on Bradstreet-95) has her name as Anne.

Annis Bradstreet Gidley, born 11/17/1665, died in 1693.

Her older sister, Elizabeth, was born 1/29/1663, and died in August 1665. Her younger brother, Simon, was born 10/15/1669, and died November 16, 1669. Their paternal grandmother, Anne Dudley Bradstreet, wrote the two poems.

"In Memory of My Dear Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being a Year and Half Old" (https://allpoetry.com/poem/14328818-In-Memory-of-My-Dear-Grandchild-Elizabeth-Bradstreet-by-Anne-Bradstreet), and

"On my dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet, Who dyed on 16. Novemb. 1669. being but a moneth, and one d" (https://allpoetry.com/On-my-dear-Grand-child-Simon-Bradstreet,-Who-dyed-on-16.-Novemb.-1669.-being-but-a-moneth,-and-one-d).

I researched and was able to discover that Samuel Bradstreet and Mercy (Tyng) Bradstreet were the parents of Elizabeth Bradstreet-107 and Simon Bradstreet-485, the 2 children memorialized in verse by their grandmother.

Her grandmother Anne Bradstreet was a writer and wrote a poem "In Memory of My Dear Grandchild Anne Bradstreet Who Deceased June 20, 1669, Being Three Years and Seven Months Old" Here is link to it but its found in many sources https://courses.edx.org/assets/courseware/v1/82ff11718191e64effd5da14db55ed21/c4x/HarvardX/AmPoX.1/asset/Bradstreet.In_Memory_of_My_Dear_Grandchild_Anne_Bradstreet__Who_Deceased_June_20__1669__Being_Three_Years_and_Seven_Months_Old..pdf

She could not be the wife of Hezekiah Gidley's as the Anne in this profile died June 20, 1669. She died at age 3 yrs and 7 months. Her death needs to be corrected and she needs to be removed as wife of Hezekiah.

Wow 3 grandchildren died in a short time. I did not explore the family much after I realized the birth recorded for an Annis whose age meant she could be the wife of Hezekiah Gidley - could not be his wife since she had died so young.

I found the following 2 poems written by Annis Bradstreet Gidley's grandmother, Anne Dudley Bradstreet :

"In Memory of My Dear Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August, 1665, Being a Year and Half Old" (https://allpoetry.com/poem/14328818-In-Memory-of-My-Dear-Grandchild-Elizabeth-Bradstreet-by-Anne-Bradstreet), and

I'm wondering which son(s) of ADB fathered these 2 children.
