Biography

Elizabeth was born on 20 July 1792[1] in Edgefield County, South Carolina, the daughter of Brittain Brassell and his wife Ladicy Davis Brassell.

Elizabeth Brasselle married Zadock Davis on December 22, 1807[2] likely in Georgia.

Zadoc and Elisabeth Davis lived in Captain Philips District, Jones County, Georgia in 1820. The household consisted of one male under 10 years old, one between 16-18 years old, one between 16-26 years old and one male 26- 45 years old. Females included 4 under the age of 10, and one between 26 and 45 years old.[3] By 1830 the family had relocated to Fayette County, Georgia and had grown to include 2 males under the age of 5, 1 male 15-under 20 years old, 1 male 40 to under 50 years old, 2 females age 5 to under 10, 2 females ten to under 15 years old, 1 female 15 to under 20 years old and 1 age 30 to under 40.[4] Numerous transactions at this time record the family's financial situation.[5] Zadock bought land along Flat Creek and parts of the greater Atlanta area that is now Peachtree City.[2]

Elizabeth gave birth to at least nine children:

By 1850, Zadoc and Elizabeth were farming in Fayette County with their youngest son, Andrew Jackson Davis.[6]

In 1860, Zadoc and Elizabeth were sharing their home with their daughter, Narcissa Fincher, and her son, Jesse Fincher.[7] The farm consisted of 200 acres, of which 70 were improved. Zadock and his family owned 5 cattle and 4 pigs.[8]

She passed away on 12 April 1864 and is buried in the family cemetery in Fayetteville, Fayette County, Georgia.[1]

DNA proven as an ancestor of Donna Weeden.
