Biography

Montie (Braswell) Jared lived in Appalachia. See Appalachia Project.

Funeral services for Mrs. M. L. Jared, wife of the late Christopher Columbus Jared of Buffalo Valley, were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church of Buffalo Valley, of which she was a member, at 2:30, with the former pastor, Rev. Forrest J. Gorman, of Nashville, officiating.

Mrs. Jared’s death occurred Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dave High, on Dixie Ave., at 10:00, following an extensive illness. Coming to Cookeville to make her home shortly after the death of her husband some years ago, she had divided her time with Mrs. High and another daughter, Mrs. Solon Maddux.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Mesdames High and Maddux of Cookeville, Mrs. J. P. Lancaster of Lancaster, Mrs. Joe Nichols of Baxter; 2 sons, W. W. Jared and Walter A. Jared, both of Buffalo Valley; 18 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Burial was at the family cemetery near the church. (John & Ann Carr Jared Cemetery, Putnam Co., TN)
