Biography

David Braswell married Mary Forrester in Madison co GA/Probate marriage record of Madison co GA on file in courthouse David Braswell does have an 1820 Madison co GA census that was found in a state legislature's office desk (along with about 20 other names on the sheet) that was (at one time) not found on Ancestry.com. I do not know if this page has been added to Ancestry.com, however there IS a page that was missing at one time and it's now found! David Braswell in Madison co GA 1820 census married to Mary Forrester is NOT a slash mark in the household of Valentine Braswell born 1774 as once thought, although they are Father and Son. Therefore, there seems to be a missing SON/slash mark/ to Valentine Braswell as of yet to be accounted for.

David Braswell left an estate some 45 pages long at the Walton co GA probate office. He died intestate/no Will left, however just about all of his children are found in the estate paper work.

David, Wesley and Derrill Braswell ancestors all have taken DNA tests and match....see this Website for details https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/braswellfamilydnaproject/about/background

  • David Braswell is in the 1820 Madison co GA Census
  • however due to a paging error his page 284 was skipped. I, Kay Dawson, will now type quoting from the source telling about the missing census page (that includes David Braswell). From the paper 'A Researcher's Library of History, Genealogy and Records' Sources' by Robert Scott Davis JR. I quote "The following page from the 1820 federal census of Madison co. GA., was originally numbered as page "284" of that census. When this numbering was redone, this page was skipped and subsequently skipped when the census was microfilmed. The discovery that this page was omitted was made by Dr. Roy Ector, a professional genealogist at the Georgia Department of Archives and History, who brought this information to my attention......."

This information explains why David Braswell's Madison co GA 1820 census record has been missing from many online sites that transcribed from the microfilmed Federal census records. Thus Ancestry and other sites that used the Federal Census to transcribe from likely still do not have the missing page.

  • Put in a call to LDS to correct their FamilySearch.org online census records for Walker co GA for David Brassell 1840 Brantley's District, it should be Walton Co GA not Walker. LDS has placed several sheets of Walton co GA 1840 census records in Walker Co GA by mistake. I will post correct information once FamilySearch.org has made the necessary changes. Both Brantley and Buncombe Districts were in Walton co GA not Walker co GA. I do not subscribe to Ancestry.com so I am unaware if their's is correct or not.
