Biography

Susanna was born about 1646. Susanna Brayfield ... She passed away about 1682. [1]

from "Old Somerset",Brayfield, Susannah, in Manokin section, 1665;indentured servant to Randall Revell and John Cooper. Susannah was before court several times charged with (and fined for) bearing illegitimate children, of whom the fathers were John Cooper and John Griffith. Susannah was mother of "Gabriel Brayfield", b.March, 1665/6, whose father was proved to have been John Cooper. Susannah Brayfield m. May, 1667, John Cooper, the father of Gabriel. John Cooper evidently dying soon after we find "Susanna Cooper" m. June, 1668, Thomas Covington. Thomas Covington (d. 1704) left by will "to Gabriel Cooper his Mothers iron pott". Gabriel Cooper lived in Barren Creek section (now Wicomico County) and dying 1737 left wife Ann.

Just a note about the reference to Thomas Covington's will, he may have been Samuel Thomas Covington or vice versa. The will that I found with reference to "mothers iron pott" was Samuel Covington's will, probably the same person, children's names are the same, and was witnessed by Nehemiah Covington, Sr. and Jr.- Note the earlier Nehemiah who married Mary Ann Ingram was already deceased when this will was witnessed, so the witnesses were probably old Nehemiah's son and grandson.
