Biography

Jesse Breed, b. 12 Jun 1771 @ Stonington, Connecticut, was the second child of Lucy (Randall) Palmer (1751-1831) & Amos Breed (1744-1785), her first husband.

He served as Captain in War of 1812. Moved from Stonington to Litchfield Connecticut, then to Homer, New York; may(?) have been in Halifax Vermont in 1804.

Jesse Breed married twice:

  • 1) 12 Apr 1794, Stonington, Connecticut, Hannah (Randall) (1773-1824), born 12 Dec 1773, daughter of Joshua Randall & Prudence Chesebrough; this is the wife who bore all of his 10 children;
  • 2) 09 Jul 1825, Groton, Connecticut, Hannah (Randall) (1783-1838), born 9 Feb 1783, daughter of Thomas Randall & Molly Chesebrough, and a cousin of his first wife; no children of this marriage.

Jesse Breed died 20 Jan 1831 @ Homer, New York. His name is inscribed on the base of a collective family memorial in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA [1], however it is uncertain that this is his grave location.
