Biography

Joseph Breed was a son of Catherine (Lee) & Joseph Breed. His birth date and location are not entirely evident, however since probably he was their first child, and his subsequent sibling was born about 1765, he probably was born about 1761 to '63 time frame. His birth family resided in the vicinity of Fair Forest, in present day Union County, but which in those days per British administration was within a larger tract very generally termed 'Craven' County.

Probably Joseph migrated with his birth family to Warren County, Georgia, a move which occurred during the mid-1770s. Also probably Joseph accompanied several of his siblings and their families during their westward migrations into Alabama, then further into Louisiana, which occurred in 1807 (see the biography of John Breed).

Joseph Breed served the United States of America during the War of 1812, Pvt., 5th Louisiana Militia, Blanche's Division.

Notes

This person's given name may have been spelled Fhosea, a replication of an archaic spoken version of current spelling of Joseph.

Breed-286 and Breed-278 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles represent the same Joseph Breed; Fhoesa probably was a spelling of the archaic pronunciation of Joseph (also pronounced Hosea).
