Biography

Edna was born on July 15, 1915 in Oak Valley, Elk County, Kansas and a daughter of Albert Byrd Bretches and Cora Ethel Bretches. Edna married William Bert Parker on June 11, 1937 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Wedding took place at Edna's sister's house, Tom and Lola (Bretches) Hales. During World War II, Edna worked at the Pratt and Whitney Engine Company on 95th Street, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri making gears for the Pratt and Whitney engines used in war air crafts. Sometime in 1944 or 1945, she received an eye injury while on the job. ^[1] She passed away on October 9, 2003 in Harrisonville, Cass County, Missouri and buried in the Floral Hills Memorial Cemetery in Kansas City Jackson County,, Missouri.^[2]

Edna L. Parker, 87, Raytown, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003, at the Camden Health Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Edna had worked at the Jones Store Company for Several years before retiring.

Survivors include husband: William Parker, Harrisonville, Missouri, sons Richard Parker, Raytown, Missouri, Michael Parker, St. Louis, Missouri and daughter Barbara and husband Albert Horn, Belton, Missouri; grandchildren Timothy, Kevin and Christopher and great-grandchildren Jeremy, Justin, Alecc and Tabitha Horn.

Graveside services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, October 11 at Flora Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, make contribution to the St. Jude's Children Hospital.
