Biography

John Brewer III, was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia about 1635; the son of John Brewer II and Anne Reade.

In 1683 John transferred 250 acres of land to his brother Thomas as was the desire of his father at his death.

"Know all men by these present that I, John Brewer the son of Mr. John Brewer of Isle of Wight County deced., have for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as brotherly love and as it was my father's last will that my brother, Thomas Brewer should have the land whereon he then lived. I do therefore freely give and make over to my loving brother Thomas Brewer, his heirs and assigns forever all my whole right and title and interest in 250 acres of land in the county above said joining upon the land of Mr. Thomas Pitt and the land of Mr Anthony Holyday [John's step-father] and upon chuckatuck Creek to have and hold the said 250 acres of land with all privileges... as witness my hand and seal this 6th day of March Anno Domini 16983."

If John Brewer married an "Elizabeth Rice," it certainly was not this one who lived and died in Massachusetts, married a different John Brewer, and had different children.
