Two servants, Fanny Johnson, 18, and Margaret Johnson, 13, lived with the family.
1870 Elizabeth Ward 7, Union, New Jersey
In 1870, James D. Brewster, a 45 year old ship broker b. Massachusetts, lived with "Diamcash" Deborah G., 37 b. Pennsylvania, and nine children b. New Jersey: Kenderton, 16; Mary A.D.S., 12; Annie M., 11; Janey, 10; Martin S., 9; Bessie, 6; Cadwalader, 5; Amelia, 3; and Louis, 1.[2]

In 1880, James D. Brewster, a 54 year old broker b. Massachusetts, was living at 132 West Jersey Street with his wife Debora G., 47 b. Pennsylvania, and twelve children b. New Jersey: son Kenderton L., 25; Mary, 22; Annie, 21; James, 20; Martin, 18; Bessie,16; Cadwalder, 14; Amy, 13; Lewis, 10; Julia, 7; Sidney, 5; and Sally, 1. James Sr.'s parents were born in Massachusetts, while Debora's father was born in Maryland and her mother in Pennsylvania.[3]
1900 US Federal Census Annapolis Ward 1, Anne Arundel, Maryland
In 1900, Anne M. B. Halsey, 37, was living as a boarder with the Buchanan family. Living with her were son William F. Halsey, 16; and daughter Deborah G. B. Halsey, 13. The three Halseys were born in New Jersey. Ann's parents were both born in New Jersey. Ann has been married for 18 years and has had two children.[4]
1910 US Federal Census Precinct 3, Washington, District of Columbia
In 1910, William F. Halsey, US Navy retired, 57 b. New York, lived with his wife Anne M. B., 51, b. New Jersey; daughter Deborah H., 23 b. New Jersey; and granddaughter Deborah Y. Turnbull, 0-[4/12] b. District of Columbia. William and Anne have been married for 29 years, and Anne has had two children, both of whom are living. Deborah has been married for two years and has had one children. William's parents were born in New York, while Anne's father was born in Massachusetts and her mother in New Jersey.[5]

In 1930, Anne M. B. Halsey, a 71 year old widow b. New Jersey, lived at the Marlboro Apartments. Her father was born in Massachusetts and her mother in Pennsylvania.[7]
1940 US Federal Census
In 1940, Anne M. Halsey, an 81 year old widow b. New Jersey, lived at the Marlborough Apts., 13th Street Northwest.[8]
Passport Application
On May 23, 1923, Anne M. B. Halsey, widow of Capt. William F. Halsey, deceased b. New York, and mother of Cmdr. Wm. F. Halsey, U.S.N., Naval Attache, American Embassy, Berlin, Germany, applied for a passport so she could visit her son. Anne gave her full name as Anne Masters Brewster Halsey and said she was born in Orange, New Jersey, on February 17, 1859.[9]
Death and Burial
According to her U.S. National Cemetery Interment Control Form, Anne died on May 25, 1947, and was buried on the 26th.
