Cora Hazel Bricker was born on December 11, 1889 in Madison County, Indiana.[1] She was the daughter of John Bricker and Mazina Goin. Cora and her brother Oliver and sister Minnie are living with their maternal grandparents in the 1900 census after their mother died.[2] She married Fred Gardner on October 31, 1908 in Tipton County, Indiana.[3] Fred and Cora had 5 children, including their young son, Ralph Marion, dying before he was two.[4] By the 1920 census, Cora was widowed, raising her 4 remaining children.[4] By 1930, Cora was working as a cook in a restaurant.[5] After Fred died in 1919, Cora married Emile Kassel on October 26, 1934 in Tipton County.[6] They moved to rural Madison County.[7] Cora died on June 3, 1970 and is buried in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood (Madison County), Indiana.[1]
