Joseph Bridges was born at York, Maine, 13 Mar 1736, the son of John Bridges and Elizabeth Provinder; d at Charlotte, Maine, 13 Jan 1830; married, bef 1762, Mary "Polly" Moody and had seven children.
Joseph and Polly Bridges settled at Birch Point, now Perry, in 1780, then moved to Ox Cove, now Pembroke. From 1800 to 1811, plantation meetings were held at his or his sons' homes. About 1809, he and his sons moved to Charlotte.
