“Will of Thomas Bridges Senr of Camden District, planter, being very sick and weak in body. 28 July 1781. To Sarah Bridges, one young mare. . .branded with my proper brand. . .also all my property that my mother now hath in her possession, at the Death of my mother. To James Satterfield, two cows and calves. To Frederick Hawkins, one cow and calf. To Lydia Bridges, one young sorrel mare known by the name of the Satterfield mare. To Richard Bridges, one small white mare and yearling. Also I give 100 pounds sterling to be for the support of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the poor Saints, together with the Lords Table. It is to be Deposited into the Lord’s Treasury and in the Hands of brother Joseph Kamp, & there to be Disposed of as the Gospel shall direct. To my well beloved wife Ann Bridges, one third of the remainder of my real and personal estate, and the other two thirds I lend unto her during her lifetime, and at her death to be equally divided amongst my brothers, provided that if by any accident wicked hands taken away unlawfully, then the Executors are not to be hereafter accountable…at my wife’s death to be divided between my brothers William Bridges, John Bridges, James Bridges, Benjamin Bridges, Joseph Bridges. Joseph Camp and Ann Bridges my wife, executors. “Signed: Thomas Camp, Thomas Bridges, William McBrayer, and Martha (X) McBrayer “N. B. as my mother is Old and may come to be very helpless, therefore I require that my executors do out of my estate Administer to her if need requires.”
