Biography

Benjamin Briggs was born at Scituate on 26 Jun 1695/6, the son of James Briggs and Rebecca Tilden.[1]

He married first at Scituate on 7 Dec 1719 to Leah Merritt.[2]

He married, as his second wife, at Hingham, 26 Nov 1747, Anna (Haugh) Doane.[3][4]

Probate

The will of Benjamin Briggs of Scituate was dated 22 April 1756 and proved on 29 November 1757 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Ann, and his children, Benjamin, Leah Damon, Deborah Man, Rachel, and James.[5]

His inventory was taken on 5 November 1756 in Scituate.[6]

In 1759, an account of his estate by his widow Anna Briggs was recorded which included goods sold, debts paid, and administration fees.[7]
