Biography

Born of a poor working class family which has mainly lived in Westchester County, NY. I have graduated from SUNY Purchase, NY with a BA in Anthropology. My graduate degrees are as follows: BSc in International Organizations from LI University at Mercy, BS in Sociology from City University of New York (CUNY), PhD in Economic Sociology from CUNY. I have taught sociology in several colleges in the CUNY system but especially at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I have also been a researcher in a major patent firm in NYC. Currently retired and continuing to do research and writing independently. I am now living in Peru, SA.

My family goes back to Lt. William Palmer who arrived in MA about 1630. That is my paternal grandmother's line. The Briggs line may go back to Henry Briggs 1745 in Orange County, NY. The next generation of Briggs went to Greene County, NY and my father's line moved to Westchester County.

I have reached a brick wall with my 5th great grandfather, Henry Briggs. He was born in 1745, perhaps in Orange County, NY. Death date unknown. He was married to Hannah Unknown and had the following children: Benjamin 1765-1843, Isaac 1774?-aft 1855, Mary 1782?-1848, Henry 1784?-1851, William 1790/91-1868. and Maria 1795-1869.

Jan (Briggs) Briggs de Chafloque

I have found a William Palmer (b 1790) living in North Castle, NY with my direct relatives Edward and Susan (Banks) Palmer (both born in 1810). This was from the 1860 US Census. I am curious about him since I can find so little information and wonder if he is directly related or not. According to my research Edward's lineage is Gideon6, Winas5, Winas4, Jonathan3, James2, and Lt. William1 Palmer.

I would like to be in contact with anyone who either would like information on the above or who has information for me. Thanks.

Jan (Briggs) Briggs de Chafloque

My interests are the family lines of Force, Sie, Palmer, Ferris and Briggs. I have lots of information on the first two and am working on the third which is almost complete. Special people I am interested in are: William Palmer 1790, Alida Ferris 1854, and Frank Briggs 1853.

Most of this side of my family are from Westchester Co, NY and also Connecticut.
