Biography

John Wilson Briggs was "Born at Montreal, Quebec on 10 December 1872, son of John E. and Mary A. Briggs, he came to Winnipeg in 1883 and was educated at St. John's College. He worked for the land department of the Canadian Pacific Railway at Winnipeg from 1888 to 1901, and was later a financial agent in the investment firm of Oldfield, Kirby and Gardner, 234 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In 1909, he married Eva Stewart of Winnipeg. He was a member of the Canadian Club, Adanac Club, and AF & AM. Recreation: farming. Address: 182 Mayfair Avenue, Winnipeg. ^[1]

His parents were John Edward Briggs and Mary Ann Stephenson Wheatley. John Wilson Briggs and Eva Elsie Stewart were married in 1909 in Penhold, Alberta. ^[2] In 1911, their household included Mary Constance, their daughter Doris and Eva's sister Mabel.^{[3] [4]}
