In the mid-1880s, Clara and Marcus moved to Cowley County, Kansas as homesteaders. The venture only lasted a few years.
They moved farm and family to Fulton County, Illinois by 1900, settling in Deerfield Township.[3][4][5]
Clara became a widow when Marcus passed in 1925. In 1930, census records show her residing at 222 West Vine Street in Canton, Illinois with a young boarder, Othel Burt, who would later become the spouse of her granddaughter, Mary Dodson.[6]
Clara died on 5 June 1942 in Canton, Illinois.[1] She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery (also known as Canton Cemetery) in Canton.
