Obituary

[1] Audrey Shoults was born August 3, 1917 at Akers, MO, the daughter of George and Carrie (Helton) Briggs. She passed away February 25, 2010 at Houston, MO at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage to Elmer James Shoults on October 17, 1934 in Houston, MO.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, George and Carrie Briggs; her husband, Elmer Shoults; three brothers, Arnold Briggs, Vernon Briggs and Aubrey Briggs; three sisters, Thelma, Rosie and Wave; two sons, Denver Shoults and Donald Shoults; one daughter-in-law, Kay Shoults and one grandson, Jason Shoults.

She is survived by her children, Van Shoults of Mountain View, MO, Charley Shoults of Summersville, MO, James Shoults and wife, Paulette, of Hartshorn, MO, David Shoults and wife, Rhonda, of Hartshorn, MO, Frankie Shoults and wife, Cheryl, of Hartshorn, MO, Marcella Wilcox and husband, Don, of Hartshorn, MO, Darlene Pethrus and husband, Pierre, of California, Acleda Menz and husband, Jerry, of Raymondville, MO; two sisters, Maudeline Purcell and husband, Jim, of Jadwin, MO and Geraldine Derryberry of Licking, MO; two brothers, Lloyd Briggs of Mountain View, MO and Wayne Briggs of Summersville, MO; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Audrey attended church at the Valley Center Baptist Church in Hartshorn most of her life, until her health no longer allowed. She continued to receive spiritual guidance through home visits by local pastors and served the Lord faithfully every day.

She enjoyed sewing and quilting, but her most treasured moments were times spent with her family.

Audrey was a blessing to her family and all who knew her. We will all miss her greatly. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Valley Center Baptist Church in Hartshorn, MO with Gary Steelman officiating. Interment was in Valley Center Cemetery in Hartshorn, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes in Summersville, MO.
