She married William Ashton, a surgeon-major in the army medical department, on June 5, 1873 at St. Luke's Church, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.[2][3] Three of their children were born in India: Fanny Isabel in 1874 [4], Ellen Maud in 1875 [5] and Mary in 1883.[6] Mary died about a month after she was born.[7] A son, William, was born in Cheltenham, about 1887.[8]
