it is not known how the last name was changed from Liptrap to Bright. Thomas seems to be the first of his family to make this name change.
Marriages
Thomas first married Marriage to Nancy Drury in 28 Jan 1815. No children. He then married Margaret Cox in December 1817. They had the following children:
Thomas served, as a Private, in the War of 1812 under Capt John Boyd's 4th VA Regiment Militia. He entered service on April 15th, 1814 and was discharged on July 27, 1814. Thomas was a substitute for Abraham Lowmann.
Research Notes
There is not a marriage register/source for either wife.
His first born, John W. Bright (1813-1904) seems to have been born before Thomas married either woman. There is not a source to document his parentage.
In the 1860 Census, Thomas and Margaret are listed along with a John Bright that was 10 years old.
He passed away about 1873.
