1741/2, Feb. 17. William Brittain, of Woodbridge, Middlesex, New Jersey sold to John Conger, of Paypack, Somerset County, New Jersey for seven pounds, all his right to land situated in Woodbridge, bounded by Jonathan Dilly's land; by Charles Marsh's land, and highways. Witnesses: Samuel Moore, Phillip Doddridge and Wright Skinner. Recorded Nov. 28, 1765. Liber B 3, p 250, Trenton, N. J.
1743, March 27. William Brittain of Woodbridge Middlesex, New Jersey, gentleman, sold to Joseph Toms, of the same place, cordwainer for 105 pounds, part of a first Division Lot laid out in Woodbridge and drawn in the right of Abraham Tappen; bounded south by a highway, east by Jacob Fitz-Randolph's land, north by land surveyed for Samuel Freeman, and west by land of said William Brittain containg forty acres. Witness: James Bishop, Jr., and William Hider. Recorded May 11, 1743. Liber F2, p. 137, Trenton, N.J.[3]

HIS:"Petition and Letters of Guardianship issued to Abraham Clark, Jr. December 24, 1761. Recorded in liber h of wills, page 62. It has the signature of the Secretary of State, Joseph H. Fitzpatrick, under the date of July 9th, 1929.: To his Excellency Josiah Hardy Esq. Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over his Majesty's Province of New Jersey, chancellor & Vice Admiral in the same & "The Humble Petition of Richard Skinner, Richard Skinner, Junr. and Sarah Skinner, "Humbly sheweth, That William Britton, formerly of Woodbridge, Dec'd, died intestate, leaving one son & one duaghter, the sd. Sarah Skinner, That the sd. Son of sd. Britton has since Decsd. whereby the said Sarah hath become the Sole Heir to all the Estate of her sd. Father, both Real & personal, That the sd. Sarah hath Married the sd. Richard Skinner Junr, both of whom are under Age, and the sd. Britton leaving a very valuable Estate and it being Necessary that some person should be authorized to take the Charge thereof, and the sd. Richard Skinner the Elder Father to sd. Richard Skinner, Junr. being aged & infirm, therefore the Petitioner shumbly desire that Abraham Clark Junr. may be appointed Guardian to the Estate of sd. Richard Skinner Junr. and Sarah his wife untill such time as they shall come of Age. Decr. 24, 1761. Signed Richard Skinner, Richard Skinner, and Sarah Skinner. "Let the prayer of the petition be granted. Josiah Hardy. A bond was given to Abraham Clark to perform his duties until Richard and Sarah became twenty-one years of age. [5]
(NOTE: It looks like William died in 1848 and then his wife must have died about 1761. In the meantime the son had died and the daughter Sarah had married Richard Skinner.)
