Florence Jane Britton was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire (nr Leeds) 16 March 1883 [1] the third child of Richard Henry Britton and Fanny (Moxon) Britton but was not baptized until 18 Jan 1891 at St Lukes, Leeds. Her brother George Harold was baptized at the same time. [2]
In the census of 1891, Florence was living at 202 North St, Leeds with her parents and four siblings. [3]
By 1911, the family had moved to 14 Gathorne Terrace, Leeds and Florence was living with her widowed mother and five siblings. Florence is described in the census as a costumier working in a factory. [4]
In the same year, Florence married Walter Ernest Hurd, 6 Dec 1911 at St Aiden's Church, Leeds. [5] [6]
Walter and Florence had three children: John Arthur (1914), Ethel Mary (1923), and Geoffrey (1925) and in the 1939 Survey they were living at 59 Shepherd's Lane, Leeds. [7]
Florence, commonly known as Flo, remained at 59 Shepherds Lane until her death 27 November 1965. [8]
