Sarah was a daughter of Charles A. Broadwater and Ann Amelia Markham. She married John West about 1783. They had one known child. Sarah passed away in 1796.

Charles Lewis Broadwater, (1752-1841), enlisted 1776 as midshipman on the sloop Congress and served one year. In 1778 he served as lieutenant under Capt. Thomas West, Col. Edward Stevens 10th Virginia regiment and resigned at Valley Forge. He was placed on the pension roll 1830 of Fairfax county where he was born and died.
