Disputed Origins

George was previously attached to William Brock and Mary Polly Brock. There is no documentation to connect this man to those parents so they have been detached.

Biography

George Brock's birthdate is uncertain, but probably about 1680. He first appears in records at the baptism of a son, Jesse in New Kent County, Virginia, in 1703. [1] In 1719 George received land in New Kent. [2] Hanover County was formed from New Kent in 1720, so although George didn't move he now lived in Hanover. By 1733 George begins appearing in records in the adjoining Goochland County. [3] In 1744 Albemarle County was formed from Goochland, so once again George had a different address without actually moving. In November 1749 George deeded his wife Kathryn a life estate in his property:

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

George should be detached from these incorrect parents. No evidence for either one. George first appears in records in 1703 when son is born: 1703 Jul 3, New Kent County Virginia, St. Peters Parish, Joshua Brock baptized, son of George Brock; Source: Register of St. Peters Parish, Series 2, 1680-1787 Richmond, 1904, p. 2. and C. Family documented in his estate records: 1749 Nov 29, This indenture made this 29th day of Novbr. in year of our Lord Christ 1749 Between George Brock Senr. of County of Albemarle of one part and Kathrine his wife of other part Witnesseth that George Brock Senr. in consideration of the Tender Love and affection which he the sd George bear unto sd Katherine his wife as also for the better Maintenance & Support of her hath given unto sd Katherine during her natural life all my Estate, right & property of what nature or kind soever to the only proper use & behoof of her sd Katherine during her natural life without any troubl or denial from any persons lawfully claimng by from or under me the said George Brock Senr. Remarks: It is not noted that George Brock Senior used a mark to sign, however it is shown that one of the witensses used their mark. George Brock Senior of New Kent Co. VA, later Albemarle, always signed with his mark GB or gB. Although slight, it leaves some speculation as to if this is the George Brock Senior of New Kent & Albemarle County. Of importance however is the witness Patrick Napier. Patrick Napier was a witness to George Brock Senior's Will.
