Biography

Anna was born about 1834. She was the daughter of Robert Brock and Catherine Blair. She passed away about 1924.[1]

In Mar., 1834, Anna was born in York Co. Anna was recorded as Indiana on some documents.

About 1854, Anna married Morgan Crane, a farmer, who was born Nov., 1832 in Canada or Ill. to Francis (1788-?) & Esther (1794-?) Crane. Pioneer Tales of the Oregon Trail and of Jefferson County recorded Morgan’s brother, William’s father’s name as Collins Crane.

On May 3, 1858, Zachary was born in Iowa. On Oct. 28, 1877, Zachary died.

In Apr., 1858, Martin was born in Iowa.

On Sept. 27, 1860, Lincoln was born in Iowa.

The 1860 Census, Monmouth Twp., recorded the family.

On July 22, 1864, Clara was born in (Pioneer Tales of the Oregon Trail and Jefferson Co. by Charles Dawson, Crane & Co, Topeka, 1912). On July 17, 1917, Clara died.

In 1867, they settled near Jenkin's Mills, Jefferson Co, Neb. Morgan's brother William Crane also settled south of Fairbury, Neb. William was a historian and contributed much to the early history of Jefferson Co.

On Jan. 7, 1867 (D), Marshall was born in Neb.

The 1870 Census, Jenkin’s Mills, recorded Morgan, 37, born in Canada, farmer, Ann, 34, born Canada, Zachary, 15, born Iowa, Martin, 13, born Iowa, Lincoln, 11, born Iowa, Clara, 8, born Iowa, and Marshall, 3, born Nebraska all on property valued at $400.

The 1880 Census, Colorado, Lake County, recorded the family.

In 1884, Morgan was elected to Nebraska House of Representatives.

In the 1890 Census, Loup Co., Neb., Ann was listed as the mother of 5 children.

The 1900 Census, Rockford Precinct, Burwell Village, Garfield Co., Neb., recorded the family.

Morgan operated a meat market with Robt Brock Jr. in Fairbury, Neb.

Morgan died prior to Ann.

The 1910 & 1920 Censuses, Idaho, recorded Anna.

On June 13, 1924, Ann died at 88 years & 3 months in the home of her son, Martin, in Coeur d’Alene. Ann had lived in Coeur d’Alene for 19 years. Ann was survived by her neice, Mrs. Salina Sullivan of Coeur d’Alene & 17 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren.
