Can we detach Joseph from this man? There is no record of anyone in this area with a wife Mary, and sons Reuben and George Reuben. Joseph appears to be the immigrant and he and his descendants are pretty well documented in Virginia.

Kevin Massey, I'm just flagging this comment for you in case you didn't see it last year. Do you have any source to support continued attachment of William and Mary as parents of Joseph?

This profile appears to be a muddle of more than one person. The documents refer to a man named William Brock who lived and died in Lynhaven Parish, Lower Norfolk, Virginia, not Spotsylvania County which didn't exist until 1720; St. George's Parish was formed in 1714. The will of the William who died in 1686 is supposedly transcripted (or possibly abstracted) in Tyler's "Quarterly."

There is a much later William Brock in Spotsylvania County who had a wife named Mary, a daughter Mary, and sons William and Joseph: BROCK, William, Spotsylvania County, d. Jan 26, 1768, Executors Bond dated Sept 6, 1768. Wit. J. Lewis, James Chiles, Jeremiah Stevens, Chas. Gordon. Ex. wife, Mary Brock; Edward Herndon. Leg. wife, Mary Brock; sons, Joseph and William Orree Brock; daughter, Mary Brock. (pg 343)

Brock-653 and Brock-285 do not represent the same person because: Pertinent info does not agree; different names, birth dates, etc. Don't believe they are the same person
