Roger Brownson was baptised September 15, 1577 at St Andrews,Earls Colne, Essex, England. The son of John Brownson.[1][2]
By 1582 his father had built a cottage for his family near Chalkney Croft on a piece of land called Chyffyn, to which Roger was heir.[3]
1600 Roger Brownson of Earls Colne married Mary Underwood at Lamarsh, (Illegible date detail, could be May 12). [4]
In 1603 he became tenant of possibly the same cottage near Chalkney Croft, which had been in the hands of Henry Humfry.[5]
1611 He received a parcel of land in Chalkney Croft from his Father John.[6]
1617 he was a beneficiary and executor of will of his Fathers sister-in-law Mary Berry
1618 he was charged with land encroachment and asked to correct it.[7]
1619 he and Mary were admitted to the house called Humpherys and the garden adjoining.[8]
1622/3 His father John died, buried 4th Feb [9]
1622/3 Mary, his wife died, buried 18 Mar.[10]
They had the following children
1623 he was admitted to the house upon the waste in Chiffin Lane[12] and also, by inheritance, land called Chalkney Crofts. [13]
In the middle of July 1635, the Defence left for the New World. On board were his eldest son John, Frances his wife and their children Mary and Dorcas. In addition his second eldest son Richard and his youngest daughter Mary also left, she was only 12 at the time. Although there is no ships record of their passage, there is no further activity in any of their names in Earls Colne after 1635 coupled with significant evidence of their presence in the New World.
This must have been a hammer blow to Roger who wrote his will on Aug 4th the following month and died shortly afterwards.
He died in 1635 he died and was buried 25 Aug, St Margaret and St Catherine Aldham, Essex[14]
In his will of 1635 he passed through the usual hierarchy of beneficiaries but perhaps coldly drops John, Richard and Mary to the end, giving them 12 pence each if they want it. There was nothing for his grandchildren Mary and Dorcas. Cornelius his only remaining son was Executor and main beneficiary. The John Brownson who witnessed the will was probably his brother.
An alternative view is that they went with his blessing and were compensated in advance.
His mention of Daughter-in-law (Step Daughter) Mary Brewer, confirms a second marriage.

However, the father of Roger Brownson-464 was John Brownson-146, NOT a "George" Brownson so it is not entirely clear who this profile is meant to represent. Profile manager and creator, can you please clarify and add sources? Thank you.

None of them is Bronson
If you could add me to the trusted list of this and other family members, I will make the change of all LNAB to Brownson. Alternatively happy for you to do it.
Thank you for your help.
