Biography

William James Brooks was born in 1736, in Culpeper, Virginia, as the son of John Brooks and Beatrice McDonald. He married Sarah Elizabeth Gilbert in 1764. They were the parents of at least 11 sons and 8 daughters. His occupation is listed as farmer in North Carolina, United States. He died on 8 March 1818, in Montgomery, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Stanfield, Stanly, North Carolina, United States.

Caution: Unusual information. Is the following correct? A child's birth and death date (Brooks-1526 born 1736 died 8 Mar 1818) should not be before a parent was 13 years old (father Brooks-1515 born 17 Dec 1728)

Brooks-2205 and Brooks-1526 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles were born and died in the same place. One wife died in Maryland more than 20 years before William's Death. It is quite possible that he married again before moving to North Carolina where both he and his second wife died. Please merge these two profiles to reduce redundant entries.
