Notes

Proof is needed for the middle initial of "M" for William Brooks, that died in 1767. Records for William Brooks indicate that his middle initial was misread and was actually "his mark" when signing his will. Whether his middle name or initial was "M" I have not found any documentation. Mary Starritt of Marion, Virginia and Ray Sheffield of Kentucky, both deceased, did extensive research on the Brooks family. I also did research on Brooks at the Library of Virginia. What little that was found indicated that William Brooks was born in England and settled in Hamilton Parish, Virginia.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

Brooks-21194 and Brooks-3698 appear to represent the same person because: i believe this is the same person, certainly the same parents.
