Biography

Born June 9 of 1890. At 17, Lottie met Max Pearsall who completely stole her heart. This young intense love brought about the birth of a darling baby girl on December 12, 1907. Sometimes heartbreak comes along with young love and Maxwell Pearsall did desert Lottie and the little baby Buelah, even tho there had been a promise of love and marriage. We can only surmise the reasoning, but four months later, Lottie met with the Iowa Children's Home Society. On April 17, 1908, whe gave and surrendered the child to the guardianship of the said society. This only child of Lottie's was then adopted on April 22, 1908 by a family named Lowrey and her name was changed to Vera Johnson Lowrey. Lottie never saw her daughter again.

In 1926, Lottie and her mother, Lydia, were in a car accident as passengers in a vehicle driven by Art Kline, who was driving while intoxicated. Lydia died of injuries sustained in the accident.

In 1943, The Polk's Waterloo, City Directory has here listed as a maid working at the Martin Hotel. Lottie was married to Ray Tiller. He was the Fire Chief of Waterloo for a short time. Her third marriage was to a Ralph Harbaugh. Ralph's three sons resented this union and still do to this day. Lottie was also a bootlegger. Lottie died 7/2/1970, at the young age of 80 years.
