Did Richard Brooks arrive Virginia in 1694 according to the Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s?
The info we have is that Richard Brooks I was born in Essex, Va about 1635 and Richard II was born in Essex about 1660/65. richard I died in Essex in 1708 and Jr. Died in Hanover Co. in 1734. So he is not likely part of the info on the 1694 passenger list.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Robert!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I recommend US Southern Colonies Project leaders are Paula , Mags Gaulden Or use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Join those which are a good fit.

Thank you, I correspond with Nigel on a regular basis. I have bought a number of tests and usually have some conversation with him about my ancestors.

Just this morning, I received a response from an autosomal match with me from a descendant of Massalva Brooks Hooper, the daughter of Richard Jr. who married Obediah Hooper.

My FTDNA kit is 177383. There is a group of 10 plus one more at Ancestry that all trace to Richard's two sons, Richard III and Robert. FTDNA designates our Haplogroup as I2a2b. 23andMe uses I2b2. The descendants of Richard Jr. are the first I2a2b group on the FTDNA Brooks surname page.

My RootsWeb site is:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?opGET&db%5Fbrooks%5F&id=I4685

So, now we have yDNA of Richard and he apparently passed on some autosomal DNA that has survived nearly 300 years.
