Jabez was the son of Jabez Brooks and Hephzibah Cutter.^[1]

Check carefully the oldest three children named here, plus any others born to a Jabez Brooks in Putnam, as there was more than one man named Jabez Brooks (possibly cousins or uncle/nephew) active in Putnam at that period. Information on his Find a Grave memorial differs in some details from this profile, in particular missing the marriage to Mary Bateman and their children, and it lists a fourth marriage.
