Allen died 2 Oct 1866 and was buried next to his wife "Narcissus" in the Brooks/Henkel Cemetery 2 miles east of Crawford, MS. He had at least four children and probably more: Mary, John M., Margaret A., Georgiana. (1850 census Lowndes County, MS)

At the time of the 1850 census Allen Brooks was one of the largest slave owners in that part of Mississippi, owning 81 slaves. He and his brothers "McCager" and "Teral" came to Mississippi about 1830 from Warren County, Georgia. Micajah's son Thomas was also listed as a "Planter," as was his son Micajah Madison Brooks.
