Dorothy Brooks was born at Concord, Massachusetts on October 15, 1685, daughter of Noah and Dorothy (Potter) Brooks. [1]
She married first, Joseph Meriam Jr. on March 24, 1705. [1] Joseph was born at Concord on August 20, 1676, son of John and Mary (Cooper) Meriam. [2][3][4]
Joseph died at Concord December 10, 1750 at the age of 74 [1][5]
His widow Dorothy Meriam made her will on December 18, 1757, bequeathing to her daughters Dorothy wife of Joseph Adams, and Mary wife of Simon Hunt, and to her sons Joseph of Grafton, Samuel, Nathan, and Josiah. [2][6]
After his death, the widow Dorothy Meriam married John Hunt at Concord on December 26, 1751, as his second wife. [1][7][8]
John died in Concord May 3, 1765, [7][1] and is buried in the Old Hill Burying Ground at Concord. [9]
The widow Dorothy Hunt died May 28, 1774 at the age of 87 and is also buried in the Old Hill Burying Ground. [1] Her inscription reads: : Here lies Buried ye Body of Mrs. Dorothy Hunt Relict of Mr. John Huntformerly the wife of Mr. Joseph Meriam who departed this life May 28th 1774In the 88th Year of her age.Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.[10]
