Edward Brooks was born in 1840 in Youlgreave, Derbyshire, the son of Edward Brooks and Mary (nee Stone) Brooks[1] and was christened on 29 November 1840 at All Saints, Youlgreave, Derbyshire[2]
At the time of the 1841 Census Edward is living with his parents in Coldwell End, Youlgreave, Derbyshire[3]
At the time of the 1851 Census Edward is living with his parents and siblings in Town Street, Middleton by Wirksworth, Derbyshire[4]
At the time of the 1861 Census Edward is living with his parents and siblings in Hill Street, Middleton by Wirksworth, Derbyshire[5]
On 17 September 1868 Edward married Frances Yates in Middleton by Wirksworth, Derbyshire[6][7]
At the time of the 1871 Census Edward and his wife Frances are living in Hill Street, Middleton by Wirksworth, Derbyshire with their daughters Eliza and infant Ann[8]

At the time of the 1901 Census Edward, now a widow, is living in Marl House, Bonsall, Derbyshire with his daughter Eliza and her two illegitimate sons John Yates Brooks (9) and Edward Brooks (2)[11]
Edward Brooks died in 1902 in Bonsall, Derbyshire[12].
