John Newton Brooks (1849–1900) married Alina "Elina" Jane Whiting (1851–1926) daughter of Philip Whitfield Whiting (1821–1893) and Nancy Jones Huff (1827–1886) and had Ximena Brooks (1874–1940) and Edward Phillip Brooks (1876–1943)
