Joseph Brooks Cox was born in 1802 in Colony of New South Wales, son of John Cox (1765–1848) and Ann Brooks (1773–1837).[1]

Joseph (19) married Matilda Rose Wise (19) (born in 1802 in Deptford, Kent, England) on April 28, 1822 in Launceston, Van Diemens Land, Australia. Their children were:

Joseph died on 7 Jul 1874 in Longford, Colony of Tasmania, aged 71. He was buried in St. Andrew's Anglican Cemetery, Perth, Northern Midlands Council, Tasmania.[1]

Brooks-9363 and Cox-33856 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person. It is confusing because the parents did not marry for several years but the many children took the father's surname of Cox
