24 June 1735, in a list of men who "drawed their lots in the Narragansett Township No. 6" was "Lot No. 8 by Claimant Ephraim Brown for his father Thomas Brown." These allotments were earned based upon the following events that took place during the Indian Wars colony period: [3]
Dec 1675 a Proclamation made to the Army in the name of the Government when they were mustered on Dedham Plain where they began their March, that if they played the man, took the (Narraganset) Fort & Drove the Enemy out of the Narraganset Country...that they should have a gratuity in Land besides their Wages; and it is well known, & our Sitting to hear this petition is an Evidence that this was done; and as the Conditions have been performed [Hudson, pg.401.] "...to this day the campaign will be known by the Name of the hungry March..." [Hudson, pg. 403.]
A petition was presented to the General Court dated 4 June 1685 asking for a tract of land pursuant to the foregoing promise. The Court responded to the petition favorably [Mass. Col. Records Vol. 5, pg.487.] For 40 years nothing more was done in the matter. [Hudson, pg.401-402.]
Ephraim Brown passed away 6 Feb 1749, Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ephraim by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ephraim:
Note-- I eliminated Betty Brown Wetherbe as a child of Ephraim Brown and Hanah Wilson. She was the daughter of Ephraim Brown and Mary Fairbanks of Stow. * [1] Mass. Vital Records to the year 1850, Stow, MA. pp.15-20, BIRTHS, BROWN/BROWNE
