Biography

Bertha (Brown) Kemp is part of a Bahamian family.

Bertha Nellie Venn Brown was born in April 1880 in Nassau, Bahamas - the oldest daughter of Thomas Benjamin Brown and Barbara Adeline "Addy" Whitehead Brown.

She married Percy George Kemp, son of John William Kemp and Mary Frances Bethel Kemp, 11 July 1903, at Ebenezer Methodist Church, Nassau. The Kemps had children - including Vera Rosaleen Kemp, Arnaud Percy Kemp, Thomas Theodore Kemp, and Arthur Roderick "Rudy" Kemp.

The Kemp family emigrated to the Toronto area (Canada) about 1910. In the early 1930s, Percy and Bertha lived in Bimini for a few years.

Percy George Kemp likely died sometime between 1935 - 1940. Bertha Nellie Venn Brown Kemp died in 1965.
