Biography

Parentage; Date and Place of Birth

Hannah, the daughter of Capt. Nathaniel Brown and Hannah (Fellows) Brown, was born in Salisbury, Massachusetts on 3: 2m: 1668,[1] which in the New Style Calendar, converts to April 3, 1668.

Marriage and Children

Hannah married Thomas Evens in Salisbury on September 30, 1686.[2][3]

Hannah and Thomas had the following children, all born in Salisbury:

  1. Ann, b. Nov. 5, 1687,[4][2] m. after August 8, 1718 (date of intentions) Cornelius Clow/Clough of Kingston,[5][6][7] living in 1736[8]
  2. John, b. August 24, 1689,[4][2] m. December 23, 1714 Mary Tappan in Salisbury,[3][6] living in 1736[8]
  3. Abigail, b. August 22, 1692,[4][2] m. after July 30, 1715 (date of intentions) Ichabod Hease/Hayes of Dover,[5][6] living in 1736[8]

Will; Death

Hannah made her will on March 8, 1735/6. In her will, she described herself as "Hannah Evins of Salisbury in ye County of Essex in ye Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England, widow & relict of Tho: Evins of said Salisbury Deceased." She made bequests to son John Evins, son Thomas Evins, son Ezekiel Evens, daughter Ann Clough, daughter Abigail, daughter Tamesin Hackett, daughter Hannah, and daughter Elizabeth Hakett. Her bequests to her son Ezekiel included land in Salisbury given to her by her "Honored Father Brown." She appointed her son Ezekiel as her sole executor. The will was witnessed by Abigail Fitts, Ezekiel Hayes, and Nathaniel Brown. It was proved on July 10, 1738.[11]

Hannah died in Salisbury on June 2, 1738.[12]
